4. Communications


“Marketing Communications are messages and related media used to communicate with a market. Marketing Communications is the “Promotion” part of the “marketing mix” or the “four P’s”: price, place, promotion, and product. It can also refer to the strategy used by a company or individual to reach their target market through various types of communications.“

Communications is the most important component of any new plan.

Ultimately any communication must promote the concept. And that promotion will include every event from the demeanour of the front desk staff on receiving a new client. Or the conversation the production team have with their friends about the company the work for. Or the manner in which the delivery team behave at the drop off. Of course it includes the packaging and the posters and the training programs and the advertising and the social media communications activities. But everyone has a part to play in the message that is sent out into the market.

It must always be well thought through, planned to a budget and have a measurable expectation of success.

That must be a combination of innovation and excitement, with elements of pragmatism and   common sense. Financial discipline is also critical.
